Depression Era Jewelry

Depression Era jewelry is a resourceful art form created by Native Americans during the Great Depression of the 1930s through to the 1950s.

Because traditional materials like silver and shell were not affordable or unavailable, artists used combinations of old records and crushed turquoise glued with local pine pitch.

Whilst the materials changed during this time frame,  the cultural imagery remained, resulting in wonderful juxtaposed creations.

Silver Plume is proud to present a collection of Depression Era Jewelry amassed over 50 years.
