American Indian Treasure This extraordinarily rare collection of Hopi tiles dates from 1882-1915. Today, a little over 1500 Hopi tiles still exist in museums and private collections. Two-thirds of the remaining tiles are in four collections. The largest collection is the Denver Art Museum, Denver, Colorado (310). The other collections are the Peabody Museum, Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass (270), the GEORGE TAYLOR ANDERMAN HOPI TILE COLLECTION, "Silver Plume" NM (143 and still collecting), and the Museum of Northern Arizona, Flagstaff, 100. The Hopi are direct descendants of the Anasaz, who emerged in the southwestern USA around 500 and 1250 A.D. Centuries-old Katcina dances still play a strong role in the Hopi tribe's spiritual life today. TO VIEW THE ENTIRE COLLECTION -please email vickie@silverplume.com.au for a PDF
