MICHELLE SLIM
Navajo
Born 1967,
Michelle began learning to make jewelry from a young age “Growing up in the 70’s I used to help my mom make jewelry, like doing house work”. Now twenty years later Michelle is teaching her 3 children the art of jewelry making.
“I’m full blooded Navajo from Torreon, New Mexico, but was raised in Albuquerque. My partner and father of my children Melvin Gordon & I make all our jewelry at our home. I came up with the squiggle design in 1988”.
Michelle sells at Indian Market in Santa Fe and is also a regular participant of various art shows and is now represented at Silver Plume.
We love Michelle’s natural sense of colour & form, always evident in her choices of stones in her earrings.
