German Silver
As early s 1830’s the European traded German Silver to the Plains Indian.
All early Plains Indian jewellery was made for Ceremonies or other family members, it was not made for tender. For this reason there are very few examples of German silver that exist today.
German/Nickel silver is named for its silvery appearance, but it contains no elemental silver, instead 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc.
